It’s always hard to have buildings right on the ski slopes or at the bottom, most of the time hard to build and expensive. This resort in Georgia managed to start just with the shipping containers structure and expanded recently with a full spa, breakfast area for those who are hungry for the body and a yoga area for those who are hungry for the mind and soul.
Located in the Caucasus mountain range in Gudauri, Georgia, the Quadrum Ski and Yoga Resort resort is almost entirely made out of repurposed shipping containers and tucked into the terrain with steel supports that reduce its environmental impact. The container units, forming the common areas on the first floor as well as the guest rooms above, are stacked five levels high, pyramid style.
The shipping container resort offers guests a quiet area to both relax and explore the amazing landscape. Built into the mountainside using a pyramid-like scheme, the containers were structured to cascade down the terrain, supported by steel posts in order to leave minimal impact on the environment. The resort has five levels, with the reception and dining area on the first floor and the guest rooms topped on one another.
The guest rooms are made up of individual containers clad in wood paneling, each with a glazed wall that leads out to an open-air deck to enjoy the stunning views. The resort offers single rooms as well as larger family and deluxe suites.
Furnishings, from beds to built-in shelves and a bar, are mostly wood , just to give you a warm feel and coziness of a wood cabin. Each guest room comes with a glass wall opening up to a deck with astonishing mountain views. Guests can also enjoy yoga classes and other healthy activities such as swimming, sauna and massage. Everything is prepared for those who’d just like to sit back and relax after a day of whizzing through the mountains, there’s also a toasty sauna or get a massage.
Such a great place, with a low impact to the environment but with such a huge impact to the mind and soul.
